Welcome to the Brandon Jr. Blackhawks Football and Cheer organization. This multi-championship organization was founded in 1991 and strives to provide the Brandon community with a competitive youth program that also focuses on developing skills, self-esteem, and academic excellence.
This corporation is organized to educate and instruct juvenile boys and girls without regard to their race, gender, creed, color or religion, in certain sports and athletic endeavors in order that they may increase their capabilities as individuals, improve their physical, mental and moral well-being and develop a sense of fair play and good sportsmanship to the end that there may be a lessening of juvenile problems and delinquency within the area of Oakland, Genesee, Macomb and Lapeer Counties. The corporation shall provide for competent equipment to protect the physical health and welfare of the boys and girls involved, and it shall provide an equal, competitive standard which emphasizes participation rather than winning so that the emotional health and welfare of the boys and girls involved may be practiced.
The mission of the Metro Youth Football League is to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, MYFL programs will teach fundamental values, skills, knowledge, and competitive balance that young people will use throughout their lives.
The league is divided into divisions: Flag, Freshman and Junior Varsity. The Flag athletes are 1st & 2nd grade. The Freshman athletes are 3rd & 4th grade and the Junior Varsity athletes are 5th & 6th grade. All grades are based on the current seasons school year.
Regular season begins August 5th and consists of up to 9 games that are played on a Saturday or Sunday with the first game scheduled for September 7th.
The MYFL is not a "centralized" league and each team conducts their own registration.
There are costs associated with youth sports. Whether its purchasing uniforms, maintaining or replacing equipment, officials fees and even facility rental to name just a few.
Please see below for our current fundraising efforts. These events are not only focused on raising funds but were also selected as an opportunity to build comradery with our members.
